Day 38 18.8 Miles

Crossed over a couple beautiful hay fields this morning alongside the Holston River. Bet the fields are even better when they are baled. Stopped at Knot Darth Maul Shelter (lol) for lunch where I met Guppie and some other dude that started in February and is moving pretty slow. A section hiking family rolled past and handed out Jesus cards to us, which was kind of interesting while at the shelter. Made the decision past Lynn Camp Mountain push even further today than expected up and over Chestnut Knob Shelter. It was a pretty good climb and i had to stop several times along the way to collect my breath. At a certain point the trail went from the woods to a clearing for at least two miles with views of the ridge lines toward the south m. It was a sight to see toward the end of a long day. Popped up and over another false summit and ran into the Traveling Fox, the Aussie couple l met yesterday. It was good to see them again and was hoping to keep hiking with them down to Walker Gap for the night. They said sure and after inspecting the rock shelter at Chestnut Knob we headed down the mountain to find peace and quiet for the night. Got in with about an hour of daylight left, cooked Ramen, talked about the day and the future, and went to bed. Good day and I’m glad I pushed myself to get over Chestnut Mountain.
